Installation of photo transfer and oil on canvas plus wood sculpture on meathook
This is my first appropriation piece composed of a nurse from a vintage Red Cross poster, a stock photo of an old woman in a hospital bed, and my sculpture. It is only natural that I give credit to the master of appropriation art: Richard Prince.
The Title "Carne" is Latin and also Filipino for meat. When I carved the wood sculpture, I was contemplating ideas of the body, mortality and decay, which I emphasized by hanging the piece on a meat hook.
